This small development of houses is set within three miles of our brickworks in Bovingdon, just over the Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire border that the brickworks is located on. Built by local family developers in 2007 these houses were snapped up on completion.

The use of our stock bricks as local materials is completely appropriate considering the location of the project in Chesham, a thriving area for brick making before the great wars, when it is believed there were around 23 brickworks within a seven mile radius of Chesham producing bricks for the local market.

Local bricks are still referred to generically by the terms ’Bucks Multi’ and ‘Chesham Multi’ referring to the traditional stock and handmade bricks typical of the area with their unique and distinctive wide colour range from bright orange through to grey brown with kiss or flashing marks where the bricks touch and air is restricted during firing in the kilns.

Our Berry Multi on the Red-side stock was selected for this project, which has a range of colours varying from light to darker flashed reds with a small proportion of orange and purple bricks, which still give a beautiful range of colours whilst having a more restriced range of colours than our Berry Multi stock.
