We operate an environmentally-friendly production system
Positive environmental management and sustainable production is a major objective of Bovingdon Brick.

We have a certified and externally audited ISO14001 Environmental Management System in place, having completed its initial assessment in early 2010.
Bovingdon Brick is fully committed to proper management of waste, the reduction of pollution, preservation of resources, and compliance with environmental legislation.
One of our commitments is to the quarries used to obtain the clay used in our brick-making. We return the worked out areas to full agricultural use as soon as possible without affecting the soil quality. Clay extraction is low key and carried out in a phased method of working in order to protect the agricultural soils and to achieve progressive restoration of the site. Edge bunding and hedge planting are managed in a way that minimizes the visual impact of the operations.
One of the old Bovingdon sites, shown to be a valuable habitat for a variety of birds, butterflies, mammals, amphibians and aquatic invertebrates, was handed to the Box Moor Trust that now owns and manages it for the benefit of the local community.
Responsible use of resources and investments in energy efficient technologies has resulted in year-on-year reductions in energy use for the last five years and have achieved a 92% water re-cycling rate.
